We are happy to let you know that your school has been selected to participate in the Road to Excellent Attendance event scheduled for August 7th.  This initiative is a key component of our efforts to engage students and their families before the start of the new school year, ensuring a solid foundation for student attendance and success.

Event Details

Our objective is to conduct home visits for selected priority schools within each region, utilizing LAUSD school buses to provide personalized support before the start of the school year. Each Region will have one bus/team composed of the Region Superintendent, PSA Administrative Coordinator, teachers from your school, PSA Counselors, Community Rep, and the Principal.  Superintendent Carvalho will participate with Region West.

The visits will follow a feeder pattern that includes elementary, middle, and senior high schools, ensuring at least one priority school is included in each visit.

Region/Schools (Feeder Patterns):

  • East: Belmont, Castro, and Logan
  • North: Panorama SH, Vista MS, Obama
  • South: Gardena HS, Peary MS, Denker El
  • West: Los Angeles SH, Cochran MS, Arlington HT ES

Tentative Schedule - August 7th

Each bus team will visit 2 student households per school, totaling six home visits per bus. Identified Grade Levels:

  • Students from K, 6th, or 9th grade
  • Students with chronic absenteeism from 5th and 8th grade, welcoming them to their new school and offering support

Your Region Pupil Services Administrative Coordinator will be reaching out to you soon to support logistics such as criteria to be used for teacher selection, PSA counselors, and community representatives who will join the visits.

We appreciate your cooperation and dedication to making this initiative a success. Together, we can ensure a strong start for our students by demonstrating our commitment to their attendance and engagement.
